Hello Everyone, these are the highlights from this weeks' meeting:
4 Way Test: Peter Fox read the 4 way test
Guests: No guests today.
Visiting Rotarians: We had 1 visiting Rotarian, Vicente Asuncion, from the Vancouver Quadra club.
Rotary Moment: This time we did not have one.
Sergeant at Arms: Carlos Obregon was our Sergeant at Arms
Announcements:
- We are going ahead with the seniors Christmas lunch. A generous donor from the West End seniors network will be making a significant contribution to make this happen. The rest of the funds will be provided by our club. It will be for 200 guests.
- Rotary on Ice is back this year, it will take place on October 16.
Guest Speaker: Today we had a Kirsten Brazier who is a professional pilot and the founder of "The sky's not limit girls fly too" event.
- This event looks to promote more involvement of women in flying, from maintenance to pilots.
- She gets sponsors to take women flying, for many women it is their first time on a plane/helicopter.
- Only 6% of pilots are women
- Only 3% of plane technicians are women
- She has flown 4,100 girls at the events
