Vancouver Sunrise Bulletin for December 2022

January 11th Return to Coal Harbour

At long last, we returned to our Club's home base meeting location at the Coal Harbour Community Centre (CHCC) on January 11th. Why do we love it so much? Here are just a few of the reasons:

The best waterfront view in downtown Vancouver, bar none!
With meetings that run from 7:30 to 8:30am, street parking is free prior to 9am at nearby metered spots along West Hastings, Broughton, Jervis and Cordova Streets.
Lung fulls of fresh sea air on your way to and from our weekly Rotary meeting.
Come-as-you-are dress code. Shorts, yoga pants or a suit and tie are all welcome!

Given the new school construction taking place immediately south of the CHCC, access to our waterfront meeting room is via the alternative entrance marked by the Vancouver Sunrise sandwich board sign. You can’t miss it as you walk along the sea wall. See you soon!

Toys R Wrapped

Strathcona Interactors collected donations, wrapped and delivered over 200 toys to children in need in the Strathcona area in partnership with:

Britannia Community Action Program for Children
Strathcona Community Centre
Strathcona Elementary
Xpey̓ Elementary, and the
Hastings Community Centre.

Interactors on Ice

Strathcona Interactors braved the cold and snowy sidewalks to enjoy a seasonal Skating Social at Britannia Arena on December 18th.

Word has it that one attendees of a certain age experienced a few too many spills and subsequent injuries so will be asking the Interactors to book next year's event at the YMCA swimming pool.

AGMs Accomplished!

President Cam skillfully chaired a very efficient pair of Annual General meetings at our December 14th meeting as we reviewed financial and business results for both our Rotary Club of Vancouver Sunrise and our Rotary Club of Vancouver Sunrise Foundation. Of special note, we thank the continuing, outgoing and new Board and Executive team members for their commitment and leadership in steering our club and foundation. The following Board members were elected for the upcoming 2023-24 Rotary year:
