At this Wednesday's meeting we had 13 members and 5 visitors attending.
The 4 way test was recited by Abigail.
Rotary Moment:
President Cleo attended the district 5040 day of dialog at SFU.
Announcements:
1) Please let Lawrence know if you can make it to our Christmas party on December 5th. Also let him know whether you will be bringing a dessert or an appetizer.
2) The 2016 edition of the Hoopathon will take place on June 4th. Global TV will be doing a promo this year.
3) Raffle: you should have received your tickets by now. The draw will take place on January 6th. We still need more items for the prizes.
4) On January 20th we will be inducting the new King George Rotaract board, we are the sponsors of this club.
Today we had Mary Kato and her 3 students, as our guest speakers. Some of the highlights of this presentation were:
- Mary is originally from Japan, she lived in Canada as a Rotarian Ambassador. She met her husband and moved here permanently.
- She founded the Vector Academy to offer 8 week courses to Japanese ESL students.
- She trains her students in public speaking to further their English speaking skills.
- She had 3 students with her today. They talked about the city of Kyoto and Hiroshima as being great tourists destinations.
- They also talked about sushi and mentioned that some of the types we eat here are not known in Japan!
