Present two Rotarian guests from the ex Quadra Club, Frances Kototyluk and Vicente Asuncion. We also welcomed 2 guests who were part of the Strathcona basketball program and are now in University: Naomi Morcilla and Justine Zhang. We also had a past scholarship recipient, Julie Aguilar, who is studying to become an accountant.
As well as our guest speaker Ron Suzuki.
The 4 way test was recited by the entire club in perfect unison.
Rotary Moment:
John Haley told us how poverty in developing countries has gone down from 46% in 1990 to 40% today. Poverty is defined as those living with less than $1.25 per day.
He also reminded us about a project from the Gibsons Rotary club called "Roll the Hippo". These hippos are water rollers that help women and children in Africa (http://www.roll-a-hippo.com/Rotary). Our club has pledged 3 hippos, please contact John to make your pledges. Each hippo costs only USD150.
